Home1Boston is a new experimental online portal to help the next generation of home owners in the greater Boston area navigate the path to sustainable home ownership.
The platform was created by Cambridge Financial Technology as part of a project developed through Clinton America and in collaboration with many organizations including the City of Boston Housing Innovation Lab, Young Invincibles and Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency and with the financial support of the Ford Foundation.
Boston is one of the country’s most desirable places to live and has experienced tremendous growth over the last ten years. Unfortunately, housing is expensive in Boston making it tough for younger residents to buy their first home – particularly for those without substantial incomes or savings. First-time home buyers in Boston today are digital natives who are often frustrated by both the costs and process of homeownership. In addition, counseling organizations, lenders, real estate agents and others often find it more complex and time-consuming to deal with first-time buyers.
Our goals are to:
1. Provide an innovative digital solution that makes it easier, less frustrating and less expensive for young adults to buy their first-home in the Greater Boston area.
2. Make sure that low and moderate income home buyers are not left behind as the process of buying a home and getting a mortgage is changed by new technologies.
3. Use new and innovative technology to provide unbiased expert guidance and lower the cost of providing home buying services to all home buyers.
